The Panasonic professional Multi Drill & Driver features a revolutionary dual mode switching gear. It goes from a drill & driver to an impact driver with the flick of a switch. Slide the mode selector switch to Drill & Driver and you're ready to drill and drive in wood and metal. Snap on the lightweight attachable 1/2-inch keyless chuck for high speed drilling (0-650 rpm) with power to spare (286 in./lbs.). A one-touch release allows for easy removal of the keyless chuck. Now use the 1/4-inch hex quick-change chuck attachment for convenient screw driving of smaller diameter and length screws in the drill & driver mode. Change the mode selector switch to Impact and you're set for high speed and heavy duty fastening in wood, metal, and even concrete. Use the 1/4-inch hex quick change chuck attachment in the impact mode and you'll get the high speed you need (0-2,200 rpm) to fasten self-drilling screws into metal. The high speed impact mode delivers faster driving of larger diameter and longer screws. Employ the 1/2-inch square drive with hex sockets for high power (1,100 in. lbs., 3,300 rpm), heavy duty fastening of lag bolts, carriage bolts, and concrete anchors with less kick back. This new tool has all the convenience features you could ask for such as electronic braking, 18-stage clutch, ergonomic grip and state of the art battery technology. The 3.5 amp/hour Ni-MH batteries are the highest capacity available, giving 50-percent more run time per charge, and are environmentally friendly. The kit includes the Multi Drill & Driver, two 3.5 amp/hour Ni-MH batteries, 45 minute universal charger, (7.2v - 24v Ni-MH or Ni-Cad), snap-on 1/2-inch attachable keyless chuck, 1/4-inch hex quick-change chuck, and high-impact plastic carrying case.

We have tried many different cordless drills and no others have compared to this one. This is a great cordless impact drill, especially for heavy applications. I have probably purchased 25 to 30 of these for use in heavy applications within my business.
The driver works rather well but the drill is to slow for serious work in heavy metal.
It had the guts to drive lots of 6 x 3/8" lags. When the batteries are down it will still sound like an impact, but won't drive. I bought this unit to use as an impact driver. Keep in mind that it is cordless. Overall, it is a great buy. It is perfect for its size and portability. It helps that I already am well invested in the batteries (with other drills).
